Once
there was a beautiful lady named Daragang Magayon who unfortunateley had many
suitors from various tribes. One of her suitors is named Pagtuga; the tribal
chief from Iriga and also a great hunter. But Daragang Magayon was not
interested on him. One day, she was bathing in the Yaw river and accidentally
slipped down the rocks. Gladly, there was a guy name Panganoron (son of Rajah
Karilaya from the Tagalog tribe) who saved her. After days from saving her
life, he started courting her and after weeks, Panganoron's proposal. He
decided to ask her father (Rajah Makusong) for her hand in matrimony. Later on,
the father accepted him. Pangoronon killed Pagtuga but later he was killed by
an arrow thrown by one of Pagtuga's warriors. Sadly, another arrow pierced Daragang
Magayon when she was running to the arms of his love, killing her. After the
battle was over, Daragang Magayon's father dug a grave and laid the bodies of
the two lovers.
This story is somewhat like a "Romeo and
Juliet" story because it shows love and willing of sacrifices for each
other. As long as you are with the right person; there will be this thing
called 'forever'.
